From the remote landscapes of the Antarctic Peninsula to the laboratories of ETH Zurich and the University of Copenhagen, this research project follows the story of 100 kilograms of Antarctic rock samples collected to investigate one of volcanology’s major questions: how critical chemical elements move through the continental crust.
These unusual Antarctic rocks offer a rare window into the deep processes that shape volcanic arcs, influence the formation of mineral resources, and help us understand how continents evolve over geological time.
